Oil is a fuel that ships carry all around the world. Its price is quoted per barrel. On Thursday, Brent crude, a main world price, rose to about $110 a barrel. It had ended Wednesday at $108.82.

The price rose after attacks in Saudi Arabia. The Houthis, a group in Yemen, hit targets in the kingdom on Wednesday. At a civilian airport in Dammam, one person was killed and eight were hurt. A drone attack near Shaybah, a Saudi oilfield, killed two people. Saudi officials said work at the oilfield was not affected.

The United States then told some diplomats and their families to leave Saudi Arabia. Ships are under attack too. Kpler, a firm that tracks ships, counted at least 18 attacks on shipping in two weeks.

On 3 November, Americans vote in the midterm elections. These are held halfway through a president's term. They decide who controls Congress, the group that makes the country's laws.

Many people vote early, by mail or in person. The Associated Press, a news agency, counted the votes two weeks out. More than 13 million early votes had been cast. At the same point in 2022, the last midterms, the number was 9 million.

Texas showed a big jump. It had nearly 1 million early ballots, up from about 550,000 at the same point in 2022.
